Meet The Doctor
John H. Johnson, DDS
Dr John H. Johnson started his career as an engineer, following in the footsteps of his two older brothers and his father. After five years as a “Drilling Engineer” and “Drilling Foreman” with a major oil company, Dr Johnson felt it was time for a change. After toying with the idea of pursuing an MBA, he ended up working as a chair-side dental assistant for a close friend. It was here that he rekindled his interest in the healthcare professions, and decided to become a dentist. Dr Johnson was accepted to the University of Texas HSC at San Antonio for dental school, and he graduated Magna Cum Laude, finishing fourth in a class of over eighty students. After dental school, Dr Johnson attended a residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry to train in more difficult and challenging cases, but with the guidance of trained faculty. It was in this environment, that he realized he enjoyed helping retain their natural teeth and helping patients in pain. After an additional year in private practice, Dr Johnson moved to Portland, Oregon to attend OHSU for his endodontic residency training, and he has continued to advance his training through membership in organizations such as the American Association of Endodontists, the American Dental Association, the Oregon State Endodontic Association, and the Marshall-Baumgartner Study Group, of which Dr Johnson is a past-president. Dr Johnson is also an Assistant Professor in the Department of Endodontics at the OHSU College of Dentistry.
In 2009, Dr Johnson opened the Downtown Endodontic Group, LLC in the Portland Medical Center in Downtown Portland. The office has recently moved into a larger footprint with an amazing view of north Portland. We invite you to come tour our wonderful new office.
